Detroit Lakes Festival of Birds kicks off Thursday 

The 29th Annual Festival of Birds is set to take place later this week near Detroit Lakes, and the event offers an opportunity for residents to learn more about the vast amount of birding opportunities in the area. Kelly Blackledge of the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge tells us more about the festival. 

Blackledge says the festival will kick off on Thursday, and include stops at many different outdoor recreational areas including the Tamarac Wildlife Refuge. 

While many field trips are full, Blackledge says there are still activities and events you can get signed up for. 

If you can’t make it to the festival later this week, Blackledge says there’s plenty of bird activity to see throughout the next couple of weeks.
