District 9 Conservation Officer Reports
CO Andrew Dirks (CCSRA) Checked ice anglers and snowmobilers throughout the week. Enforcement action included registration violations.
CO Chelsey Best (Pequot Lakes) spent the week mainly on snowmobile and fishing activity. Enforcement action was taken for speeding, registration and failure to stop. Investigations continue for work in public waters and trapping cases.
CO Eric Sullivan (Brainerd) checked ice anglers on area lakes and patrolled snowmobile trails. Anglers reported that fishing was slow but some nice walleye and northern were harvested. Snowmobile trail use remained high and area trails received a fresh snowfall that improved trail condition.
CO Jim Guida (Brainerd East) patrolled area trails for snowmobile activity. Numerous areas of off travel were located. Snowmobilers are reminded to look at signs. Landowners work with clubs to allow access. Please stay on designated trails to avoid trespassing charges. Snowmobile speeds were also monitored.
CO Nate Benkofske (McGregor) spent time patrolling state parks. Snowmobile trails and lakes were checked with some fresh snow in the area. Enforcement action taken for illegal length fish, modified snowmobile exhaust, and expired vehicle registrations.
CO Tony Flerlage (Crosby) encountered many snowmobiles enjoying the fresh snow on the trails. Fishing has been slow in the area. Attended division training at Camp Ripley.
