(Minnesota) — Applicants are being sought after by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to alleviate capacity concerns at some shooting ranges.
The steady increase in the popularity of shooting sports has presented the DNR a grant program to provide people with more and better places to safely shoot.
Under the current funding cycle for the program, the DNR is offering $125,000 in grants. The application period is open until July 1st on a first come, first served basis. The grants require a 1:1 match and are available to work on five-stand, pistol, rifle, skeet, or trap ranges. Grantees must also allow members of the public to shoot at reasonable time and for reasonable fees. Grants from $2,500 to $25,000 are available.
More information on the Shooting Range Development Grant Program is available on the DNR’s website.
