Earth Day 2025 Is Tuesday

Tuesday is the 55th annual celebration of Earth Day. 

Earth Day organizers are calling for generation of renewable energy to be tripled worldwide by the year 2030.  In 2023, the US produced more solar power than ever.  In Australia, one third of all homes have solar power.  And according to Earth Day dot org, the cost of manufacturing solar panels has fallen by up to 93 percent between 2010 and 2020.  Also, Texas leads the nation in generating wind energy.  

Earth Day organizers are also calling for a 60 percent reduction of fossil fuel based plastic production by 2040.

One way you can help save resources is by recycling.  Whether it’s cardboard packages, soda pop cans, or your old computer, all those things can be recycled.  Contact your county environmental office for more information.  

In all, 192 countries and over a billion people around the globe are expected to help protect our environment on Tuesday.
