Essentia Health-Fargo Adopts AI Diagnostic Tool for Heart Disease.

Essentia Health-Fargo is the first hospital in the Dakotas to adopt the CathWorks FFRangio® System, an AI-powered diagnostic tool for evaluating coronary artery disease during cardiac catheterizations.

The technology uses routine angiograms and computational modeling to construct a 3D arterial map, measuring blockage severity in minutes. Unlike traditional fractional flow reserve assessments, CathWorks removes the need for invasive pressure wires or drug stimulation while reducing radiation exposure by an estimated 20%.

Available by physician referral for qualifying patients, the system has been used 10 times since its late-August launch. The milestone coincides with the opening of Essentia Health-Fargo’s second electrophysiology suite for treating complex heart rhythm disorders.
