Essentia Health/Fosston Update

On Wednesday, R&J News told you about Essentia Health’s plans to expand the emergency room at Fosston Hospital, along with adding a new ambulance bay and special rooms for patients who need behavioral health care.  Essentia Health West Market President Dr. Stefanie Gefroh talks about those plans.

Gefroh was asked if these expansion plans are meant to mend fences with Fosston Hospital, since the City of Fosston will end its working relationship with Essentia Health at the end of this year.

R&J News has reached out to Fosston City Administrator Cassie Heide about Essentia Health’s proposal.  Gefroh says if the plan is approved by Essentia Health’s board of directors, the expansion could be completed in 2027.
