Northern Lakes scored 2:20 into the first period and didn’t look back in a 6-0 win over Willmar that give the Lightning the chance to repeat as 6A champions.

Waylon Katterhagen scored the opener as well as the final tally, and Parker Fulton also added two goals as the Lightning dominated most of the matchup against the Cardinals.

After Katterhagen’s goal to open the scoring, Huck Balmer and Landen Cartie also found the net in the first period as it was 3-0 after the first. Fulton scored both of his goals in the second period as it was 5-0 Lightning heading into the third. Katterhagen’s second goal came three minutes into the final frame that initiated running time and Willmar didn’t stand a chance at a comeback.

Cartie added two assists and Josiah Reier tallied three assists as the Lightning outshot Willmar 49-15 and scores a rematch with Sartell for the section title Thursday night. Sam Suja scored his fifth shutout of the year in net.
