The Pequot Lakes defense was suffocating again, holding the Crosby-Ironton offense to only four second half points in a 76-27 victory.
The win was the tenth in a row in the series for the Patriots, who cranked up the defensive intensity after taking a 37-23 lead into the half.
A 16-3 run in the first half helped Pequot Lakes build a 14-point lead at 23-9. Crosby-Ironton battled back, cutting the lead in half at 30-23 thanks to some sharp 3-point shooting. The Patriots responded by scoring the final seven points in the first half.
Pequot Lakes then clamped down in the second half defensively, which also sparked the offense as the Patriots outscored the Rangers 39-4 the rest of the way.
Pequot Lakes had four double digit scorers, lead by Mason Lundgren off the bench with 12. Harrison Kennen and Tollef Birkeland each had 11 and Brayden Dornseif had 10. C-I was led by Ethan Millsop’s 7.
The Patriots are 3-0 while Rangers (1-4) dropped their fourth straight after an opening night win.
