7AA Elimination – Aitkin vs. Esko

A 7th innings rally for the Aitkin Gobblers to keep their season alive fell short in a 10-8 loss to the Esko Eskomos in the Section 7AA Tournament in the Elimination Bracket.

The Gobblers got off to a good start offensively with Ella Janzen scoring on a fielder’s choice as Aitkin would leave the bases loaded in the Top of the 1st. Esko responded back in the 2nd with a 2-run double from Bailey Plante which would be the last time the Eskomos would trailed.

#2 seed Esko tallied 4 runs in the 3rd off a bases-clearing double from Mikayli Marciulonis and Raegan Olson grabbed an RBI sacrifice fly to lead 6-1. #6 Aitkin cut into the lead at 6-2 with an RBI Kortney Lamke, scoring Janzen. Three more run would come in the Eskomos from Amber Carlblom’s 2-run souble and Kaitlyn Adams’ RBI single to push the lead to 9-2. Plante made it 10-2 in the Bottom of the 6th with an RBI single.

Aiktin would not go down without a fight in the Top of the 7th with 0 batters coming to the plate highlighted by Lamke’s RBI double, 2-run single from Camille Parenteau, RBI single from Alaina Hagesteun, and RBI groundouts from Bailey Gabrio and Abby Palm. The Gobblers would tally 6 runs before Ella Janzen’s RBI single ended their season at 10-11 overall.

Lamke led the Gobbler bats by going 4-for-4 with two RBI doubles. Janzen had 3 runs scored and Megan Buchholz added 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and a run scored. Buchholz pitched a complete game in the loss and gave up 10 runs off 10 hits and walked 6 batters.

Mikayli Marciulonis got the win in the circile by pitchin 7 innings and giving up 7 hits and allowed 5 runs while striking out 9. Marciulonis added 2 hits, 3 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Avery Kuklinski walked 3 times and scored twice for the Eskomos.

Aitkin’s season comes to an end at 10-11 on the season and marked the final appearances for Kortney Lamke, Megan Buchholz, Sophie Snyder, Alaina Hagesteun, and Savanna Parenteau.
