GBB 8A Championship – Fosston vs Kittson Co Central at TRF

The Fosston Greyhounds had four players in double figures as they defeated the Kittson County Central Bearcats 67-59 to win the Section 8A championship at Thief River Falls. The Greyhounds built a 17 point lead in the first half but the Bearcats came storming back to take a four point lead at 39-35 in the second half. The Greyhounds took the lead for good at 40-39 and are making their first trip to the State Tournament since 2006. Vanessa Johnson led Fosston with 16 points as the Greyhounds improve to 29-2 overall. Tessa Manecke added 15 points and 9 rebounds for Fosston with Brynlea Mahlen scoring 13 points and Lexi Mahlen 10 points for Fosston. Kaydence White led Kittson County Central with 25 points as the Bearcats end their season at 24-5. The Greyhounds battled foul trouble throughout the game but were able to overcome that to post the victory. The Greyhounds will play their first game at the State Tournament next Thursday.
