8A GBB Goodridge/Grygla vs Red Lake County Central (Oklee)

Oklee, MN — The Goodridge/Grygla Chargers beat the Red Lake County Central Mustangs 50-42 on Monday night to advance in the MN Section 8A Girls Basketball Tournament.

It’s difficult to beat a team three times in one season and the Chargers were determined to not fall to the Mustangs for a third time this season. The Chargers controlled the scoreboard for most of the game, leading early 18-7 before RLCC went on an 18-3 run to take their first lead of the game with less then three minutes to go in the first half 24-23. The lead was short lived though however as Goodrdige/Grygla converted on an and one with just seconds to go and the Chargers took a 26-24 lead at halftime.

In the second half, points were hard to come by as it was only a 41-35 game with six minutes to play but Goodridge/Grygla held the advantage and they never trailed in the second half en route to the 50-42 win.

With the win, Goodridge/Grygla will now play the #1 Seed Kittson County Central Bearcats on Thursday in the Section 8A Play-In game at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls. Tip time is 6 pm. For Red Lake County Central, their season comes to an end with a 12-15 record and graduate two Seniors.
