Right-hander Jake Oskowski pitched a 7-hit shutout with 7 strikeouts and drove in a run as the Ada A’s defeated the Moorhead Mudcats 6-0 Wednesday night at Tony Sipe Field in Ada. That was the Mudcats’ first loss of the season after 7 straight wins.
The A’s got on the board with 2 runs in the first inning. Beau Fetting singled, Sunny Resnick was hit by a pitch and Beau Jorgenson singled to drive in Fetting to make it 1-0. After a strikeout, Dylan Totten hit a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.
In the third inning, Osowski doubled to bring in Resnick to make it 3-0. Then the A’s added another run in the fifth. Then in the eighth inning, Ada rounded out the scoring on a ground out and a wild pitch.
Resnick went 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored for the A’s (4-5). Totten was 0 for 2 with 2 rbi.
Gavin Quade took the loss for the Mudcats (7-1). He pitched the first 2 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, a walk, a hit batter with 2 strikeouts. Gavin Gast threw 5 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Carter Heinsch pitched the 8th inning, allowing one hit, 2 runs (1 earned), one walk, a wild pitch, and one strikeout. Wyatt Tweet and Brett Letness were both 2 for 4 for Moorhead.
