The Ada-Borup-West Cougars defense and special teams helped propel them to a road playoff victory over the Bagley Flyers 16-8. The game remained scoreless into the second quarter when the Cougar Special teams blocked a punt and recovered at the Flyer 29 yard line. Three plays later the Cougars scored their first touchdown to have an 8-0 lead through the remainder of the first half. In the third quarter it was the Flyers defense intercepting the Cougars before their offense went 49-yards for the tying score on an 18-yard pass. After a Cougar punt the Flyers were again making their way down the field before heavy pressure from the defensive line rushed the Flyers into a throw that was intercepted by the Cougars and returned to near mid-field. On that next drive the go-ahead score was a 46-yard touchdown run. The Cougar defense held strong after that and another interception in the fourth quarter, followed by their offense picking up a pair of first downs, allowed the Cougars to kneel out the remainder of the clock for the victory.

Ada-Borup-West is now 4-5 and will face #1 seeded Mahnomen-Waubun on Saturday at 2pm. The Bagley Flyers end their season at 5-4 overall.
