Crookston, MN — The Ada-Borup-West Cougars won their seventh game of the season on Monday night, defeating the Crookston Pirates 3-0.

The Cougars got out to a sluggish start in the first set lacking energy that allowed Crookston to hang around up until the 12-10 mark but from that point on Ada-Borup-West would outscore Crookston 13-4 and win set one 25-14. Set two was total domination by Ada-Borup-West, taking an early 10-2 lead, triggering a Pirate timeout but the dominance continued led by the Cougars attack and Pirates miscues. Ada-Borup-West would win 25-6. Set three saw Ada-Bourp-West again lead early, 7-0. Ada-Borup-West Junior Malayna Syverson would have eight kills, twenty for the night, enroute to the 25-10 set three win and the 3-0 sweep.

Ada-Borup-West improves to 7-2 on the year and will travel to Hawley on Tuesday. Crookston falls to 0-5 and will host Thief River Falls Tuesday.

Ada-Borup-West C-Squad won 2-0. Crookston JV won 2-0.
