Ada-Borup-West 73 Mahnomen-Waubun 67 OT

It was an overtime thriller in boys basketball with Ada Borup-West making enough shots in the extra session to get the win over Mahnomen Waubun 73-67.  Both teams held double figure leads at points in the game, but it would be the final run by the Cougars that would be key.  The Cougars shot very well in the first half building a 16 point lead, only to see the Thunderbirds go on a run to end the half and cut the lead to 4 at 35-31.  The Thunderbirds would start the 2nd half hot on both offense and defense buidling a 12 point lead and holding the Cougars to just 4 points over a 8:30 minute stretch.  The Cougars would then turn up the defense and turn the Thunderbirds over several times in a short time span leading to a 10-0 run and cutting the lead to 2.  The Cougars would then hit shots to tie the gaem at 54 and with the Thunderbirds missing some opportunities the the game would end at a 62 tie.  In the overtime session Cameron Spaeth would hit a 3 and some free throws to give the Cougars the edge and the win.  THe Cougars are now 13-2 while Mahnomen Waubun drops to 8-7.
