New York Mills used good defense and strong rebounding in their victory over Ada-Borup-West Thursday night 69-44. The win for New York Mills Eagles puts them into the Sub-Section semifinals versus Underwood Saturday. New York Mills is now 21-6. Ada-Borup-West ends the season with six straight losses in a 13-12 season hampered by injuries. New York Mills left little doubt with a quick start, 6-0 with a Cougar 3-point field goal, then a 14-0 run and a 20-3 lead. New York Mills led 36-13 halftime lead and a 25-8 first half rebounding advantage. Ayla Olson had ten of those first half rebounds to lead the Eagles along with 18 points, she would finish with a game high 31 points and 14 rebounds. New York Mills outrebounded the Cougars 38-15 as Olson’s teammate, Alayna Baune added 11 rebounds for the Eagles in their win.
