GBB Ada-Borup-West at Sacred Heart

Ada-Borup-West lady Cougar basketball enjoyed one of their best weeks’ of basketball this season with Thursday night’s road victory at East Grand Forks Sacred Heart ( EGFSH) 73-67.  The win  capped off the week with three victories over three quality teams and continuing to improve as the season record is 17-5.  Ada-Borup-West closes out the regular season next week  at Barnesville on Tuesday and at Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley  with both games airing on KRJB 106.5 and rjbroadcasting.com .  The setback for the Eagles was their third consecutive this week as they are in the midst of 6 games in 8 days to end the regular season, including  traveling to Warroad on Friday night. Playing BGMR and Climax-Fisher next Monday and Tuesday.   EGFSH Eagles record is now 19-4.

This game saw both teams shoot well from the perimeter in the first half.  Each team had seven 3-point field goals and the Cougars led 39-38 at halftime time.  The first half saw four tied scores with Ada-Borup-West having a seven point lead midway through the first half.  Ada-Borup-West reserves played a key role as four regular players in the rotation each had two fouls and were limited with playing time.

EGFSH led 48-47 with 13:22 left in the second half before the final tie of the night, 50-50 ( five tied scores ) with 12:50 to play .  Ada-Borup-West would have their largest lead of the game at 66-55, and, again an eleven point lead, 69-58  with three minutes remaining.  EGFSH attempted comeback was aided by some Cougar fouls on made baskets for three point plays.  EGFSH could get no closer than four points, 71-67 with :12 remaining.     The Cougars would make twelve 3-point field goals in the game.  Each time the Cougars lead would be cut into by the Eagles, the Cougars would have answer with a made field goal or timely free throws.
