Ada-Borup-West had four players scoring in double figures in the victory at Lake Park Audubon ( LPA) Friday night, 63-55.   The game was competitive with physical play, a combined 56 free throw attempts 41 turnovers and the Cougars putting together more positive posessions than the Raiders.   The Cougars scored the game’s opening field goal before LPA scored the next ten points, eventually leading 14-6 as the eight point leads were their largest of the game.  The Cougars had eight turnovers in the first eight minutes as they fell behind—  they had only two turnovers in the last ten minutes of the opening half to build a 28-21 halftime lead.  Fewer turnovers and better shooting continued after the halftime break as Ada-Borup-West scored the first six points for a double digit lead.   LPA again started getting some turnovers, making a few shots and tied the score at 37-37 with 11:20 to play.  The Cougars Madi Nitschke scored all six of her points in the next minute for a Cougar 44-37 lead. Leighton Odden, Morgan Engel and Brianne Myers all chipped in with timely field goals or free throws to build the lead to double digits.  Despite numerous turnovers in the final seven minutes, ( including five straight posessions with turnovers)  Ada-Borup-West’s 15 point lead was large enough to close the game out. The Cougars improved to 12-7 overall and the Raiders fell to 14- 9 overall.   The two teams are back to back in the Section 6A, North Sub-Section standings.
