Roseau 3, Ada 1
Roseau American Legion Post 24 defeated Ada Post 26 3-1 Sunday in an elimination game in the Northwest Region North Sub-State baseball tournament in Ada.
Roseau’s Eli Wensloff and AJ Klint combined to hold Ada to four hits…with three of those in the first inning when Ada scored its only run. Ames Fassino singled to score Brennen Fetting with the first run of the game.
Roseau responded with two runs in their half of the first, when with runners on first and second, Lincoln Buchwitz singled to right. Braeden Bueng’s throw home was wild, allowing one run to score and putting runners on second and third. A wild pitch from Ada pitcher Lance Kritzberger allowed to go-ahead run to score for Roseau, making it a 2-1 game.
Roseau added another run in the fourth to make it a 3-1 lead. Ada loaded the bases with one out in the fifth, when Post 26 went for a suicide squeeze. Lance Kritzberger couldn’t make contact at the plate and Casper Kritzberger was out at home. Lance then struck out to end the inning.
Eli Wensloff got the win for Roseau, pitching six innings, giving up four hits, one run, seven walks, with two strikeouts and three wild pitches. AJ Klint got the save with a scoreless seventh inning after allowing a leadoff walk.
Lance Kritzberger took the loss for Ada. He went 5 1/3 innings, giving up 6 hits, 3 runs (one earned), 4 walks, a hit batter, 5 strikeouts and a wild pitch. Barron Odden got the final two outs.
Roseau’s Tucker Kvien was 2 for 2 with a walk; he was the only batter with more than one hit in the game.
Ada’s season ended with the loss. Roseau moved on to play Red Lake County for third place.
