Albany at Pequot Lakes

The top-ranked Albany Huskies won in a three game sweep to stay unbeaten to start the year.
The first two sets were great battles, both with each other and with some nerves. The first set had seven ties before Albany grabbed a slight cushion late in winning 25-21. Set two was more of the same as the teams battled back and for throughout. After ten ties and four lead changes, the Huskies scored the final three points and grabbed the 2-0 advantage winning 25-22.
The third set was all Albany as they looked like the top-ranked team with dominant serving and hitting, connecting on all their spots in a 25-11 rout.
Hannah Klein tallied 17 kills and Kelsey Lobitz added 13 for Albany, who improves to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the Granite Ridge Conference. Pequot Lakes was led by Alexa Pietig with 9 assists, 3 blocks and two kills along with June Ruud’s 8 kills and two ace serves. Pequot Lakes falls to 1-1 overall and in the GRC.
Both are back in action Thursday with Pequot Lakes traveling to Little Falls and Albany to Pierz.
