Alexandria at Northern Lakes
Preview
Northern Lakes scored less than a minute into the opening period, and that would be enough as they snapped a three-game losing skid to Alexandria with a 5-0 victory on home ice.
Despite being outshot 11-4 in the opening frame, Easton Anderson scored 59 seconds into the contest and the Lightning led 1-0 after the period.
The offense revved up for Northern Lakes, scoring the final four goals in the second period. Drew Paulbeck made it 2-0, and 38 seconds later Jerome Martin ripped a power play goal through to make it 3-0. Two more goals were scored in just 30 seconds’ time as Preston Verness ricocheted one off a Cardinal skater and Martin added another to give us the final of 5-0.
Sam Suja stopped all 27 shots he faced and the Lightning held Alexandria to 0-7 on the power play.
Northern Lakes moves to 3-1 on the season, 2-0 in Section 6A games, while Alexandria falls to 1-4 on the year.
The Lightning play at undefeated Crookston on Saturday.
