The Fosston Greyhounds closed the game on an 18-4 run and went on to defeat Badger/Greenbush-Middle River 55-41 Tuesday night at the Fosston Gym. Tessany Blazek scored on a buzzer beater to end the first half and give the Gators a 27-26 lead at halftime. But the Greyhounds came out strong in the second half as they remain undefeated at 11-0. With the game tied at 37-37, the Greyhounds would take the lead for good at 38-37 with 7:13 left in the game. Brynlea Mahlen led Fosston with 19 points with Katelyn Vesledahl adding 16 points and 13 rebounds for Fosston. Kinsley Duppong also recorded a double double for Fosston with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jae Reese scored 17 points and Kinsley Hanson added 12 points for the Gators as they fall to 10-3 overall. Free throw shooting played a big role in the outcome as the Greyhounds shot 19 of 28 at the line while B/G-MR shot 5 of 14 at the stripe. B/G-MR won the “C” Squad game over Fosston 49-15. There was no “B” Squad game played. The Greyhounds will return to action on Friday, January 20th when they host Fertile-Beltrami (1480-AM/99.7 FM).The Gators will play their next game on Friday, January 18th when they host Warren-Alvarado-Oslo. The Gators also play on Saturday, January 19th when they travel to Mahnomen/Waubun (101.5 FM).
