Bagley at Fosston

The Fosston Greyhounds advanced to the Section 8A Quarterfinals with a hard fought 43-39 win over the Bagley Flyers Thursday night in Fosston. The defending Section 8A champion Greyhounds defeated the Flyers 58-34 and 53-29 during the regular season but the Flyers gave the Greyhounds everything they wanted on Thursday night. The Greyhounds used a 15-0 run to help them build an 18-5 lead in the first half but the Flyers would answer with a 9-0 run of their own with the first seven of those points coming at the free throw line. The game was tied at 25-25 with 10:32 left in the game with Fosston taking the lead for good at 27-25. The Greyhounds would build their lead to ten at 41-31 before the Flyers cut it down to four at the end of the game. Lexi Mahlen led Fosston with 13 points and 12 rebounds as the Greyhounds improve to 16-11 overall. Miley Hove also recorded a double double for Fosston with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Lexi Illies and Teagan Duppong each added 7 points for Fosston. Makalyn Hoie led the Flyers with 16 points as Bagley ended their season with an overall record of 12-15. Shayla Hvezda added 11 points for Bagley. Bagley graduated four seniors from this years team with Sadie Larson, Shayla Hvezda, Aliyaa Stevens and Kira Thompson closing out their careers as Flyers. The Greyhounds will now face Warren-Alvarado-Oslo in the 8A Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 1st in Thief River Falls (5:15 pm on 96.7 and Your Live Event).  The Ponies defeated the Greyhounds 57-31 on February 20th in Warren.
