Bagley vs. Warren-Alvarado-Oslo
The Warren-Alvarado-Oslo Ponies jumped out to a 23-0 lead and never looked backed as they advanced to the Section 8A semifinals with a 72-23 win over the Bagley Flyers. Sophomore Macey Boe led the Ponies with 24 points. Miela Pierce and Markelle Pederson each added 12 points for the Ponies as they improve to 24-3 overall. Freshman Mazie Hoie led Bagley with 17 points as the Flyers end their season with an overall record of 8-19. Hoie hit four 3 pointers in the game. The Flyers played for the first time ever at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls and started a young lineup with four freshmen and an 8th grader in the starting five. The Ponies have won 18 of their last 19 games with that one loss coming to Kelliher/Northome on February 5th at Bemidji State University. Warren-Alvarado-Oslo will have a chance to avenge that loss when they play Kelliher-Northome in the semifinals of the Section 8A Tournament on Tuesday, March 3rd in Thief River Falls (6:00 pm on 96.7 FM/ Your Live Event/Garden Valley TV). The loss for Bagley snapped a four game winning streak. The Flyers advanced to the quarterfinals by overcoming a 22 point deficit at halftime at Blackduck last Thursday in the second round of the tournament.
