Blackduck at Win-E-Mac

Recap

Erskine, MN – Win-E-Mac continues their winning ways with the sweep over Blackduck as they have now won 5 of their last 7 matches (25-21, 25-14, 25-19).

In the first set, neither team could find an edge early on as it was tied at points 1-7, 10 and 11 before Win-E-Mac finally broke away after an 8-2 run made it 20-15. The Patriots were able to hold off the Drakes and took the first set 25-21. Both teams lost a key player during the set. Win-E-Mac’s setter LaShelle Johns left midway through the set with an injury and Blackduck’s Kiamiyah Dodd finished the first set, but didn’t return as she was dealing with an illness that had two other Blackduck players not make the trip.

In the second set, it was pure domination from the Patriots. They got up 14-5 in a hurry, but Blackduck made one push with a 5-0 run to make it 14-10, however it was immediately answered with a 7-1 Win-E-Mac run to go up double digits.

In the third set, Blackduck came out on fire scoring the first 5 points. Then it turned into the Ensley and Macie Haskett show. Ensley went on a service run that produced 4 of her 5 aces in the 3rd set, and she also had 3 of her 6 kills come in the third set. Macie Haskett had 7 of her 8 kills in the 3rd set as the two Haskett’s helped complete the sweep over Blackduck.

Win-E-Mac now improves to 5-9 overall and 3-5 in Section 8A. The Patriots will be back at home tomorrow against Ada-Borup-West.

Blackduck falls to 5-10 overall and 2-5 in Section 8A. The Drakes will be back on the road tomorrow against Red Lake.
