Valley City 64, Bottineau 61
Valley City rallied from a four point deficit with 2:34 to play to defeat Bottineau 64-61 in the first game of the State Class A Girls High School Basketball tournament Thursday afternoon at Minot State University.
Dacota Potratz made a free throw with 1:39 to play to put the Hi-Liners within three at 61-58. Then Katie Burchill made two free throws to make it a 61-60 game. Then Potratz scored on a drive to put Valley City ahead 62-61. Tesa Olson added two free throws to seal the victory.
There were 19 lead changes in the game and 12 ties.
Olson led Valley City with 16 points, Burchill had 15 points and 13 rebounds and Greta Goven scored 12 as the Hi-Liners go to 19-7 for the season. They’ll play Devils Lake Friday night in the first Class A semifinal.
Hallie Nero scored 16 points for Bottineau with Kylie Simpson adding 14. The Stars are now 22-3 on the year and they meet Northern Cass Friday afternoon in the consolation round.
