Breckenridge/Wahpeton at Northern Lakes

The Northern Lakes Lightning started their defense of their 2025 6A title with a shutout victory over 7th-seeded Breckenridge/Wahpeton’s Blades.

The Blades kept it close for the first two periods, as it was 1-0 after one and 3-0 after two. Jacob Peterson scored with just under two minutes to play in the second period to make the 3-0 score which was a huge goal for the Lightning who had dominated much of puck possession time.

After an initial push by B/W with a couple missed opportunities to start the third, Northern Lakes was able to pull away and sealed the victory with two late goals.

Josiah Reier tallied two goals and an assist, while Jacob Peterson, Parker Fulton, Huck Balmer and Garrett Furry all had two points for the Lightning. Northern Lakes moves to the 6A Semifinals Saturday night with a record of 15-10-1.

Breckenridge/Wahpeton closes its season at 11-14-1.
