In a Tigers/Tigers battle for the first time in recent history, Browerville-Eagle Valley struck early and rolled to a 12-5 win at Pine River-Backus.

The BEV Tigers plated five runs in the top of the first with three hits and benefitting from two walks and three PRB errors. PRB then scored a pair in the bottom of the first to shift a bit of momentum their way, but it was short-lived.

The visiting Tigers scored one in the second and four more in the third to push the lead to 10-2 while Sophomore pitcher Bristol Bruder locked in and held PRB hitless for the next four innings. BEV scored one in the top of the 6th and PRB answered as it was 11-3 into the seventh inning. In the top half, BEV score once more, then replaced Bruder with freshman Samantha Irlbeck to close things out. After two quick outs, the PRB Tigers put together a spurt with four straight hits and three runs, but the rally ended with a flyout to short center field.

Allison Cebulla went 4-5 with 5RBI to lead Browerville-Eagle Valley while Bruder picked up the win in six innings, allowing the three runs on just three hits and striking out eight.

Kaitlyn Rilea was 3-3 with a triple, RBI and three runs scored to pace the PRB offense. Ariana Burns took the loss, allowing 10 runs (7 earned) in 2 1/3 innings.

B-EV is now 8-4 and PRB fell to 6-8.
