The Mahnomen Waubun Thunderbirds season came to an end after a 28-14 loss to Minneota in the state semi finals.  Minneota used a strong running attack throughout the game and used some big plays on defense to gain valuable field position.  Mahnomen Waubun fought to the end having opportunities in the red zone but failed to make the plays when they needed them.  Minneota will move on to play for a class A state title while Mahnomen Waubun will end their season at 11-1
