Clearbrook-Gonvick at Fosston

The Fosston Greyhounds advanced in the Section 8A Tournament with a 72-34 win over the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears at the Fosston Gym. The Greyhounds trailed 16-15 with 7:25 remaining in the first half but then called a timeout and proceeded to go on a 28-0 run that carried over from the first to second half. Calli Burrack returned from a concussion and led the Greyhounds with 18 points. Lexi Mahlen scored 17 points and pulled down 15 rebounds for Fosston as the Greyhounds picked up their 15th win in their last 16 games. Vanessa Johnson added 10 points for Fosston as they improve to 26-2 overall. Emma Fawver and Allison Lavine each scored 10 points for Clearbrook-Gonvick as the Bears end their season at 7-16. The Greyhounds shot 16 of 20 at the free throw line for 80 percent. Fosston will now face Mahnomen/Waubun in the Section 8A Quarterfinals on Saturday at 3:30 pm in Thief River Falls
