The shorthanded Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears scored the game winning touchdown with .09 showing on the clock and shocked the Park Christian Falcons 20-14 at Clearbrook-Gonvick. Sophomore Quarterback Grant Engen connected with Sophomore Ryan Gerlofs on a 9 yard touchdown pass with under a second remaining in the game to lift the Bears to the shocking win. The game winning score was set up thanks to a 54 yard run by Freshman Avery Ostenaa which got the ball to the park Christian nine yard line. The Bears came into the game missing five starters due to injury including their number one and two quarterbacks. The Bears led 8-0 after the first quarter when Engen connected with Braxton Bjerke on a 34 yard touchdown pass. The Falcons scored their first touchdown with 6:51 remaining in the second quarter on a 4 yard run by Logan Giese and trailed 8-6 after missing the conversion. Park Christian took the lead with 3:20 remaining in the second quarter when Giese scored his second touchdown on a 1 yard run and the Falcons took a 14-8 lead into halftime. Giese has scored 18 touchdowns in the last five games for Park Christian. After a scoreless third quarter, Engen hit Gerlofs with a 19 yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 14-14. The score remained tied until the game winning touchdown on the final play of the game. Engen threw three touchdown passes for the Bears and connected with four different receivers in the game. The Falcons turned the ball over 4 times and the Bears committed 14 penalties in the game. Clearbrook-Gonvick will close out the regular Season on Wednesday, October 16th when they host the undefeated Fertile-Beltrami Falcons (96.7 FM). Park Christian will close out the regular season Tuesday, October 15th when they play at Stephen-Argyle.
