Red Lake Falls, MN  — The Red Lake County Rebels won their 13th game in a row Tuesday night as they defeated a short handed Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears team 93-51.

Clearbrook-Gonvick knew they had a tall task in front of them going into Tuesday night’s contest against a Red Lake County a team that many consider to be the favorite to win Section 8A. The task grew even taller for the Bears as they were without their leading scorer, Hassani Bruton.

Red Lake County never trailed during the game. The Rebels jumped out to an early 18-10 lead in the first eight minutes of play. Clearbrook-Gonvick would call a timeout at the 11:48 mark to regroup, but, out of the timeout Red Lake County put together a 16-3 run to take a commanding lead 34-13. The Bears would scratch the deficit back to eleven points with a few minutes to go in the half, but Red Lake County would get out and run on offense and force thirteen first half Clearbrook-Gonvick turnovers to take a 51-30 lead at half.

In the second half, the trend of dominance continued for the Rebels building a 66-36 lead just four minutes in and an eventual 93-51 final score for the victory.

Red Lake County has now won 13 consecutive games improving to 16-1 on the season. The Rebels will play next at the Fosston Greyhounds on Thursday night (96.7 FM KKCQ). Clearbrook-Gonvick has now lost six of their last 7 games, including seven of their last eight against West Sub-Section opponents. The Bears fall to  9-7 on the year and will play at Goodridge/Grygla on Thursday.
