Red Lake Falls 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-21)

Red Lake Falls, MN — The Red Lake Falls Eagles improved to 14-8 on the season after their 3-0 victory over the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears on Tuesday night.

Red Lake Falls would handle set one jumping out to an early 9-2 lead and that deficit would prove to be enough as Clearbrook-Gonvick would never get any closer then seven points. The Eagles took the opener 25-16. Set two was a different story as Clearbrook-Gonvick responded nicely taking a 16-12 lead in the later parts of the set. However, Red Lake Falls would go on a 5-0 run taking a 18-16 advantage. The game would see three ties from that point forcing Eagles Coach Nikki Gullingsrud to call a T.O. at 24-24. Red Lake Falls would score the next two points out of the time out to win 26-24 and lead the match 2-0. Set three was very similar as the second with back and forth volleyball and no lead larger then four points. Red Lake Falls would close the door scoring six of the final eight points to win 25-21 and win the match 3-0.

Red Lake Falls is now 14-8 on the season and will play in the Frostbite Tournament this Saturday in Grygla before closing out the regular season next Monday when they host Win E Mac (96.7 FM KKCQ). Clearbrook-Gonvick falls12-5 on the year with the loss and will play at the Blackduck Drakes on Thursday that will have major playoff implications.
