Erskine, MN — The Win E Mac Patriots Girls Basketball Team opened up their 2023 season with a win over the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears 48-29 on Tuesday night. The Patriots relentless pressure defense was the catalyst to the victory as they forced the Bears into 36 total turnovers. At times, their defense was a little too aggressive committing some careless fouls but Win E Mac got contributions from everyone and were able to weather the trouble nicely. Eight different players scored for the Patriots including Alyssa Morberg off the bench with 10 points and Starting Junior Forward Lauren Kaupang with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

The Patriots begin their season 1-0 and will play the early game of a double header on Friday beginning at 6 p.m. at home versus Kittson County Central. Clearbrook-Gonvick starts 0-1 and will be at home on Thursday to host the Red Lake County Central Mustangs.
