Erskine, MN – The Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears started their season in convincing fashion Thursday night, rolling past the Win-E-Mac Patriots 42-12 to move to 1-0.

The Bears wasted little time getting on the board, scoring on four of their first five possessions as their offense moved the ball with ease. Four different players found the end zone in the first half: Grant Engen on a 37-yard touchdown reception, Dakota Erickson on a 2-yard run, Ryan Gerlofs on a 41-yard dash, and quarterback Carver Kroulik on a 7-yard scramble.

Erickson, a senior, proved to be the standout of the night, scoring three times—twice on the ground and once more on a 65-yard kickoff return in the second half.

Defensively, Clearbrook-Gonvick was just as sharp, holding the Patriots to only 94 yards of total offense. Win-E-Mac managed two scores—an 11-yard touchdown run from Jayden Haugen and a late 10-yard score from Austin Langseth—but otherwise struggled to find rhythm against the Bears’ swarming defense.

With the win, Clearbrook-Gonvick improves to 1-0 and will travel to face BGMR next Friday at 3:30 p.m. Win-E-Mac drops to 0-1 and will look to bounce back on the road against Northern Freeze.
