Recap
Clearbrook-Gonvick 20 Fertile-Beltrami 52
Fargo, ND — The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons won their third consecutive Section 6 9-Man Football Championship on Thursday night versus the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears with a 52-30 win.
The win was not easy for the Falcons as they were punched by Clearbrook-Gonvick early in the game as the Bears for the Falcons into an early three and out and Clearbrook-Gonvick would drive right down the field to take the first lead of the game. The Fertile-Beltrami high powered offense would be able to answer and take an 8-6 lead into the early parts of the second quarter when the night was brought to a halt after Junior Running Back Jonah Harstad caught a 69 pass and was tackled inside the Clearbrook-Gonvick 10 yard line. On the tackle, Harstad would suffer a serious leg injury that stopped the game for almost a half an hour. After the unfortunate injury to Harstad, Fertile-Beltrami would play the rest of the game with a lot of emotion and adrenaline as they poured it on taking a large lead into half time and eventually winning 52-20.
Fertile-Beltrami will now play the Section 8 9-Man Football Champion Goodridge/Grygla Chargers next Thursday night at Moorehead High School in the State 9-Man Quarterfinals.
