The Crookston Pirates and Mahnomen Waubun Thunderbirds battled back in forth for 5 sets which included Crookston coming back from a 14-8 deficit in the 5th set to get a 3-2 win over the Thunderbirds 17-25, 29-27, 25-23, 22-25, and 17-15.  Both teams showed extremely scrappy play, but also had several mistakes through out the match.  Each game was close with several ties, but it was serving runs, well placed hits, and hitting errors that would prove to be the biggest factors with Crookston having 10 aces for the match, both teams with 34 kills as a team, but Mahnomen Waubun committing 26 hitting errors.  With the win Crookston is now 1-1 while M/W drops to 0-1.
