Crosby-Ironton at International Falls
The International Falls football team got their first playoff win since 2012 last night as they defeated the Crosby-Ironton Rangers 28-14 in the Section 7AA quarterfinals. The first quarter was scoreless but it was not for lack of chances for the Rangers offense. The Bronco defense stopped CI inside the 10-yard line twice in the first twelve minutes. The Rangers took advantage on their third time inside the 10-yard line as quarterback Dylan Klancher scored from 2-yards out and with the extra point kick converted, it was 7-0 Rangers with 8:45 left in the 2nd quarter. The Broncos would answer with a 2-yard touchdown run of their own with 1:09 left in the half as freshman Cooper Crandall scored. The two point conversion failed and it was 7-6 at the half. For the second straight home game, the Falls offense that had been stagnant in the first half, took the 2nd half kickoff and drove down the field for a score. This drive was 83 yards in 7 plays with the first play being a 42 yard pass from Ben Glowack to Alex Larson. Glowack would finish the drive with a 5-yard TD run and 2-pt conversion run and the Broncos led 14-7. It would stay that way until the 4th quarter when Tristan Thompson ran in from 14 yards out, and with Glowack running in the 2-point conversion, the Falls held a 22-7 lead with just under 9 minutes left. The Broncos added some insurance with 2 minutes left as Glowack hit Alex Larson on a 10-yard pass to put the Falls up 28-7. CI scored with 13 seconds left for a final score of 28-14. Glowack finished the night 8-22 with 147 yards passing and 2 scores and he added 76 yards rushing on 15 carries and those two 2-point conversion runs. After the game, Bronco center and linebacker Cameron Schulz describes why he plays with such passion.
