The Crosby-Ironton Rangers will play in their first ever girls basketball state championship game after defeating Minnehaha Academy 85-72 in the Class AA Semifinals.
The Rangers built a double-digit lead halfway through the first half and took a 40-24 lead into the break.
Minnehaha Academy’s attempts to get on a big 2nd half run continued to be stopped as the Rangers held the cushion and increased the lead to as much as 22 at 70-48. The Redhawks made a desperate run, cutting the lead to 10, but that came with less than a minute to go and the Rangers advanced with the 85-72 victory.
Regan Juenemann scored a game-high 31, with 24 coming in the 2nd half. Tori Oehrlein added 27 with 19 rebounds. Addi Mack lead Minnehaha Academy with 28.
The #2-seeded Rangers, now 32-0 will play top seed, top ranked, 31-0 Providence Academy for the AA title after the Lions defeated Minnewaska Area 88-43 in their semifinal.
The state championship broadcast is set for 5:45pm Saturday on Skeeter 101.5
