JAMESTOWN, ND – Valley City downed Devils Lake 64-44 in the quarterfinal round of the State A Girls Basketball Tournament on Thursday afternoon.

The Hi-Liners put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Firebirds 21-6. Katie Burchill finished with 23 points and 18 points while teammate Maddy Frieze added 16 points and 7 rebounds.

Tylie Brodina and Presley Brown had 12 points each in the loss for Devils Lake.

Valley City has a rematch of the State A championship from last season with Thompson in the semifinals on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Valley City topped Thompson in the championship last year from the Minot State. You can listen to the broadcast on yourliveevent.com.

Devils Lake heads to a consolation semifinal against Rugby on Friday at 1 p.m. from the Jamestown Civic Center.
