Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton retained its Section 8AAA football championship Friday with a 35-14 victory over Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 35-14 at the Fargodome.

The Rebels forced four turnovers as they improved to 9-1 on the season and advanced to the State AAA quarterfinals next Friday against Albany in Alexandria.

Chad Johnson got DGF started with a first quarter interception.  Then he ran for a 24 yard touchdown on a fourth down play to put the Rebels in front.

On the ensuing kickoff, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta fumbled and DGF’s Ethan Hellerud recovered at the Tiger 28 yard line.  Senior Brody Friend scored on a four yard run late in the first quarter to put the Rebels ahead 14-0.

Early in the second quarter, Friend scored his second touchdown of the game on a 21 yard run to raise the Rebel lead to 21-0.

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta then put together its best drive of the game.  Drew Huebner threw a ten yard pass to Jackson Hallman to get the Tigers on the board; followed by a pass to Jack Kehoe for a two point conversion to make the halftime score 21-8 in favor of DGF.

The Rebels scored again in the third quarter as Johnson found Bodey DeVries for a 28 yard touchdown pass to make the score 28-8.

Late in the third quarter, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta had driven to the DGF ten yard line and fumbled, with the Rebels recovering at their own five yard line on the final play of the quarter.  DGF then drove 95 yards in 15 plays for a clinching touchdown in a drive that took 9:22.  DeVries scored on a one yard run to make the score 35-8.

The Tigers would score a late touchdown as Huebner connected with Riley Asmus on a 38 yard scoring play.

Friend led the DGF ground game with 71 yards on 13 carries.

Huebner connected on 11 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions for the Tigers.  Asmus caught three passes for 61 yards.  Owen Anderson rushed 12 times for 50 yards as Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta finishes the season with a 7-4 record.
