Recap

Drayton/Valley-Edinburg 50, Hillsboro-Central Valley 48

Easton Larson’s basket with 28 seconds to play gave Drayton/Valley-Edinburg a 50-48 win over Hillsboro-Central Valley in girls basketball Tuesday night at Central Valley.

The Burros had come back from a seven point first quarter deficit to trail by one at halftime, 24-23.  Then, led by Megan Ensign’s six third-quarter points, HCV led 36-31 after three quarters and at one stage in the fourth quarter was up 40-33.

But foul trouble and turnovers were problems for Hillsboro-Central Valley.  Paityn Olson fouled out with 4:54 to play and the Burros missed her rebounding presence.  In the mean time, DVE came back to tie the score.  HCV’s Megan Ensign went to the foul line with 44.3 seconds remaining in regulation with the Burros trailing 48-47.  She made one of two free throws.  On the Titans’ ensuing possession, Larson scored the winning points for DVE.

Larson scored 16 points and Elizabeth Fedje 14 (8 in the fourth quarter) to lead Drayton/Valley-Edinburg (2-0).

Ensign had 13 points to lead the Burros (2-2).  Hillsboro-Central Valley plays at Four Winds-Minnewaukan Friday night.  You can watch that game on YourLiveEvent.com.
