East Grand Forks Sacred Heart vs. Goodridge/Grygla

Thief River Falls, MN — The fourth and final game of the Section 8A Girls Quarterfinal round at Ralph Engelstad Arena started out as a back and forth affair that appeared as though it would go down to the wire. But Goodridge/Grygla would pull away late and win 50-36 to advance to the West Subsection Championship Game.

The Chargers took a quick lead to begin Saturday night’s game but Sacred Heart would answer their early run and eventually tied the game up at 14-14 in the first half. Both squads would go back and forth, matching baskets at certain points until Sacred Heart’s Leah Sundby converted a four point play to take momentum in the closing minutes and take a six point 27-21 lead into the half.

Goodridge/Gryga didn’t blink though as they worked their second half comeback that started with their stifling defense allowing only nine second half points from Sacred Heart. Once Goodridge/Grygla went up by nearly double figures they played keep away from Sacred Heart, keep possession of the basketball for what felt like minutes on end, and securing their victory by 14 points 50-36. Goodridge/Grygla will now play the top seeded BGMR Gators in the West Subsection Championship on Tuesday the 7th at approximately 7:45 p.m.
