The East Polk North Stars (Fosston/Win-E-Mac) scored nine runs in the fourth inning and went on to defeat the Mahnomen/Waubun Thunderbirds 16-3 in five innings at Waubun. Maddie Bailie went 4 for 4 at the plate and drove in four runs for the North Stars. Lexi Mahlen went 2 for 3 at the plate including a grand slam homer in the fourth inning and Clara Kolden and Alyssa Anderson each had two hits for East Polk. Paige Breitbach picked up the win in the circle for the North Stars as they improve to 5-1 overall. Emily Zima went 2 for 3 at the plate for Mahnomen/Waubun as the Thunderbirds fall to 3-5 overall. Jazlyn Olson and Katie Zima each had one hit for the Thunderbirds. The North Stars outhit the Thunderbirds 14-4 including six hits in the fourth inning in which they sent 15 batters to the plate. Eight of the nine East Polk batters scored at least one run in the game.
