Thief River Falls, MN — The Sacred Heart Eagles are advancing to the Section 8A Girls Basketball Championship after narrowly defeating the Kittson County Central Bearcats 67-63 on Tuesday night.

Sacred Heart held the lead for the final twelve and half minutes of the first half and even built an 11 point 32-21 lead. Kittson County Central would put together a crucial 11-1 run to make it just a one point game at half time 33-32.

In the second half the script flipped. Kittson County Central took the lead back with a pair of quick baskets to open the half and that lead would last for the next sixteen minutes and twenty seconds. Sacred Heart had to dig deep to keep the game within striking distance and their core group of players kept their poise and composure down the stretch and took the 65-63 lead with just over a minute remaining and closed out the win 67-63.

With the win, Sacred Heart is now 25-4 on the season and will defend their Section Championship when they face the Kelliher/Northome Mustangs on Friday night. Tip time is set for 7 pm, the pregame show will begin at 6:30 on 96.7FM KKCQ and YourLiveEvent.com
