Esko at Pequot Lakes

After a first half that saw a barrage of three pointers, six ties and three lead changes, the Pequot Lakes Patriots pulled away to stay undefeated in section games with a 67-52 win over Esko.

An 8-0 run featuring back-to-back threes had Esko up early 12-6. The Patriots answered in less than 30 seconds with a three pointer and an old-fashioned three point play. Pequot Lakes hit back-to-back threes to take a 21-18 lead with about 6 minutes left in the first half and would not trail again. Pequot Lakes lead 34-24 at half.

The Patriots quickly built a 17-point lead in the first four minutes of the second half, but Esko wouldn’t go away, shaving the lead to ten at 52-42 with just under seven to play. The Patriot responded and ultimately took home the 67-52 win. Tollef Birkeland lead all scorers with 20, Gus McKenna scored all 18 of his points behind the arc and Rock Holubar pitched in 11. Braxtyn Male lead Esko with 18.

The Patriots are now 15-1, 6-0 in Section 7AA games. Esko falls to 8-11, 2-2 in 7AA.
