Clearbrook, MN – The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons wrapped up the regular season with a 49-14 win over the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears on Wednesday night.

Clearbrook-Gonvick opened the game with an impressive 73-yard scoring drive, capped by an 18-yard touchdown run from Dakota Erickson to take an early 8-0 lead. The Falcons quickly answered with a touchdown on their opening possession to tie the game at 8-8.

From there, Fertile-Beltrami took full control as the Bears struggled with turnovers. Clearbrook-Gonvick gave the ball away three times in the first half, including a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown by Preston Hanson. After a turnover on downs, Caleb Sather scored his second touchdown of the night to extend the Falcons’ lead to 22-8.

A lost fumble by the Bears set Fertile-Beltrami up with a goal-to-go opportunity, and Creed Tollefson punched it in from seven yards out to make it 30-8. Another turnover soon followed, and the Falcons capitalized again — this time on a 27-yard touchdown pass from Gavin Aakhus to Bryer Strem — giving Fertile-Beltrami a 36-8 halftime advantage.

The Falcons added two more scores in the second half, while Clearbrook-Gonvick found the end zone late to close out the scoring at 49-14.

With the win, Fertile-Beltrami finishes the regular season at 5-3, while Clearbrook-Gonvick also ends at 5-3. Both teams will now await their seedings for the Section 6 9-Man Football Playoffs, which will be released on Thursday.
