The Fosston Greyhounds led for most of the game as they defeated Fertile-Beltrami 52-39 at the Fosston Gym. The Greyhounds took the lead for good at 4-2 and led 25-14 at halftime. The Falcons would cut the deficit to nine early in the second half but that would be as close as they would get the rest of the night. It was the second win for Fosston over Fertile-Beltrami this season with Fosston winning at Fertile 60-55 back on December 22nd. Zach Theis led Fosston with 15 points as the Greyhounds improve to 10-2 overall and 6-1 in the Pine to Prairie Conference. Aaron Norland and Carsen Boushee each scored 11 points for Fosston. Caiden Swenby scored 12 points and Derek Sorenson added 10 points for the Falcons as they fall to 10-5 overall and 6-2 in the conference. The Greyhounds had lost the night before at East Grand Forks 71-58 and it was their fourth game in less than a week. A huge crowd was on hand at the Fosston Gym for the Essentia Health Blackout as Essentia Health paid the admission for all of the hands who attended the doubleheader. Fertile-Beltrami won the “B” Squad game over Fosston 54-44.
