Fertile-Beltrami 56, Climax-Fisher 50

Madison Stueness made 2 free throws to break a 50-50 tie, then scored on an offensive rebound with 1:12 to play as Fertile-Beltrami defeated Climax-Fisher 56-50 Thursday night in Climax.

The Falcons had jumped to a 19-6 first half advantage; then Climax-Fisher used full court pressure to force several turnovers and get back in the game.  The Knights went on a 16-2 run to go in front 22-21 with 3:50 to play in the half.  Fertile-Beltrami would regain the lead and were up 32-25 at halftime.

The second half had 2 lead changes and 5 ties.  The last tie came on a Peyton Schroeder basket for Climax-Fisher with 3:00 to play, making the score 50-50.

Stueness made 2 free throws with 2:42 to play.  Mya Erickson added a basket to give the Falcons a 4 point lead.  Then Stueness scored again to conclude the scoring.  Erickson had 15 points for Fertile-Beltrami (6-5, 4-1 conference), with Bailey Iverson adding 12 and Stueness 11 for the Falcons.

Lucy Paulsrud had a game-high 22 points for Climax-Fisher (2-5, 1-2 conference) with Brooklyn Hoffman adding 12 for the Knights.

Each team committed 20 turnovers.  Both teams shot well from the foul line: Fertile-Beltrami was 18 of 22 from the stripe; Climax-Fisher was 10 of 15.  Fertile-Beltrami won the rebound battle 41-31.

Fertile-Beltrami plays at Lake Park-Audubon Friday night.  Climax-Fisher travels to Warren-Alvarado-Oslo next Monday.
