Kittson Co Central 3 Fertile-Beltrami 1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 25-20)

Crookston, MN — The Kittson County Central Bearcats were able to hold off the Fertile-Beltrami Falcons on Tuesday night winning 3-1 and advancing to the Section 8A Volleyball Championship.

Kittson County Central was playing from behind for most of the first two sets, and early on there was a realistic possibility of them going down 2-0. The Bearcats the season favorite to win the section, was able to tighten the screws and come back from being down 14-8 to win set one 25-23. Set two would go the Fertile-Beltrami as they took an early lead and held off a late Bearcats comeback to win 25-20. Set three would see everything come up KCC as they led late in the set 17-10 and were able to close out a 25-18 win. The third set was met with adversity for Kittson County Central. The Bearcats would grow frustrated of some calls that didn’t  go their way and they would find themselves down 16-8 and it looked like for sure the match would go to a fifth set. However, Kittson County Central would come storming back with a 10-0 run taking the lead 18-16. The Bearcats would never let go of the lead after that, winning the set 25-20 and winning the match 3-1.

With the win, Kittson County Central is now 26-5 on the season and will take on the Ada-Borup-West Cougars in the Section 8A Championship on Friday. For Fertile-Beltrami, their stellar season ends with an overall record of 25-5 and will graduate four seniors, Lexi Defrang, Danielle Kresl, Grace Proulx and Brooke Fladhammer.
